Born in France to parents who were both painters, Léonard Lassalle seems never to have been without a keen feel for the drama of the visual and has always painted, shaped, adorned, or designed the space around him. He went to AS Neill's famous Summerhill school in England, then studied at the atelier of famous French artist Paul Colin in Paris whom he helped to decorate Paris theatres. He also trained at London's Central School of Arts and Crafts where he quickly won first prizes for his work. Back in France, he began painting on silk for fashion designers and doing the interiors of shops. He became so interested in antiques, he took a stall in the Flea-Market, and shortly thereafter moved back to England, with his family, to set up shop. He specialized in XVII century antiques and oriental rugs. He was simultaneouly designing furniture, gardens, homes, offices and their interiors. He became an expert in egg tempera frescoes - and in quite some considerable demand around the world. Léonard has painted murals in churches and large public spaces from France to Jakarta. He has restored a XVII fresco in an old French church and created four murals of the four stages of man for a public building in Jakarta. He has also created fountains, a crystal clock and thirteen sculptures for the project in Jakarta. His work is in public and private collections in Germany, France, Scandinavia, Indonesia, Norway, USA, and England. He is presently preparing for an exhibition in Europe. Léonard continues to paint in his studio in France. All the paintings in this exhibition can be purchased from the artist.
